The World Champion will be determined on tie-break tomorrow. Stefanova - Ushenina

The World Champion will be determined on tie-break tomorrow.
After losing the third game of the World Championship final match, Antoaneta Stefanova (Bulgaria) needed to win the last game with classical time control today....The match score is now tied – 2-2. The winner will be determined on tie-break tomorrow, December 1. The tie-break begins with two rapid games – 25 minutes plus 10 bonus seconds per move. If the score remains tied, the players continue with two more games with 10 minutes plus 10 bonus seconds per move. If the score is still tied, the players compete in two blitz games – 5 minutes plus 10 seconds per move. Finally, if the winner is still not determined, they proceed to an ultimate game, also known as the Armageddon – White has 5 minutes, Black has 4 minutes, each side receives 3 bonus second per move, starting with the move 61, and a draw counts as a victory for Black.

Probitas, Cavalieri e Scacchi

SportAccord World Mind Games Set for Dec. 12-19 in Beijing

The second SportAccord World Mind Games (SWMG) will be held December 12-19 in Beijing, China.....The surprise this year is that nearly 80% of the field is new: the only returnees from last year are Li He (China), Choi Chulhan and Park Jeonghwan (Korea), Mukai Chiaki (Japan), Joanne Missingham (Taipei), and Vanessa Wong (Great Britain). This reflects the astounding rate at which young players have been rising to the top all over the world during the past year or so. Nearly one-third of the contestants are under 20, and all but five of the rest are under 30...

The second game between Antoaneta Stefanova and Anna Ushenina was a short draw

The match score is 1-1.
The second game of the Women’s World Championship match between Antoaneta Stefanova (Bulgaria) and Anna Ushenina (Ukraine) featured an interesting theoretical discussion. The Bulgarian, playing White, decided to test her opponent’s knowledge in a very sharp opening variation known as the Slav Gambit: White sacrifices a central pawn, but forces Black to keep the king in the center and obtains long-lasting initiative. Ushenina, however, deviated from the main lines, and by the 10th move the players reached an original position with complicated strategic and tactical pattern....

BADUK VARIANTS

2012 : Game of Sunjang Baduk

Sunjang baduk is a different form of Go (baduk) that evolved in Korea. It has been played since at least the 7th century. Its most distinctive feature is the prescribed opening. The starting position dictates the placement of 16 stones (8 black, 8 white) as shown, and the first move is prescribed for Black at the center of the board. However, the counting system for determining territory at the end of the game also has some important differences. Namely, stones inside friendly territory, which are irrelevant to boundary definition, are removed before counting territory.

Vladimir Georgiev: Antoaneta has always played very strong

http://chess2012.ugrasport.com/?p=2750

The coach of Antoaneta Stefanova visited the press-center after the end of the second game.
– Vladimir, could you please share your opinion about Antoaneta’s form at this championship?
– She plays very well so far, and proved it once again today. We prepared for this variation and expected this closed position. Antoaneta had only one bad day at the championship, but this can happen to anybody. Fortunately, she survived that day and is still here.
– Do you mean the match against Marie Sebag?
– Yes, the result clearly shows it..... read more:http://chess2012.ugrasport.com/?p=2750
