About Feng Yun
Feng Yun started learning go in the Henan province of China when she was 9 years old, and became a professional player in 1979 at the age of 13. She was selected for the China National Weiqi Team in 1982, and studied go intensively while on the National Team member for 18 years. She retired from the National Team after emigrating to the United States.After years of persistent effort and hard work, in 1997 Feng Yun attaining the rank of 9 dan, the highest professional rank. She is the second woman in the world ever to achieve 9 dan, and even today there are only three. She also won the World Women's Champion title in 1995.
